In regards to the artists singing, Ma Rainey’s voice is lower than Billie Holliday’s voice and it seems as if she is singing form her diaphragm rather than her hear voice. “Body and Soul” has always been a jazz song to me and Billie Holliday has fallen more into the category of a jazz artist for me, but it is hard to pin an artist or a song to one specific genre.
